Arnold moved to Munich

Soon after Arnold discovered the local strongmen scene, which were working out at the close by “Thalersee”. Arnold was fascinated by their bodies and started to work on his own. His famous physique was gained by hard training and a lot of discipline. The hard work was worth it as Arnold already almost perfect physique attracted international promoters. On August 8, 1966, with the age of 19, he had the possibility to leave Austria for the German City of Munich. There he stayed until 1968 as he moved to the USA when he was 21 yeas old. In California he was part of the Golden Age of Bodybuilding and became the best in this sport, winning the Mister Universum contest five times and the Mister Olympia contest seven times. He was the first human being that was able to train his biceps to a size of 55 cm (21,7 in).
